Obituary of Mary Minor
MARY EVELYN MINOR
Mary Evelyn Kanatzar was born in Mexico, MO on April 10, 1931, and died peacefully at home on March 8, 2022, in Columbia at the age of 90. She was born to Willie and Jessie Kanatzar, joining her brother, H. Dale Kanatzar and younger sisters Wanda Kanatzar and Joan Kanatzar. Joan Stephens, Mary’s “little sister” survives. An infant brother, Edward Lee, preceded his siblings in death.
Mary E. Kanatzar married Fred Minor on April 9, 1947, and they enjoyed 73 years together, always putting each other first. They raised their son Gary (Anita) Minor and daughter Debbie (Jay) Self in Sturgeon and resided there for 48 years.
Fred and Mary were life-long members of the Sturgeon Christian Church and witnessed five generations of baptisms, weddings, baby dedications, family reunions, church services, cherished pastors and saying goodbye to generations of family and friends.
Mary’s legacy includes 4 grandchildren, 13 great grandchildren, 15 great great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. She cherished family gatherings and enjoyed all her grandchildren, but especially meeting all the new babies.
Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday, March 14, 2022, at the Sturgeon Christian Church in Sturgeon, MO. Interment will be in Mt. Horeb Cemetery in Sturgeon, MO. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until service time on Monday, March 14, 2022, at the Sturgeon Christian Church in Sturgeon, MO. Mom, you gave us life, nurtured and cared for us. You taught us courage and sacrifice and that love comes from the heart. There will never be enough gratitude to repay you. Your family loves you for being a caring person, a remarkable woman, and an exceptional mother. The love you have given us will forever live within your family.
