Obituary of Larry Prater

Larry D. Prater, 64, Columbia, MO passed away Wednesday, August 2, 2023, at the University of Missouri Hospital & Clinics in Columbia, MO. He was born January 26, 1959, in Moberly, MO the son of the late James J. Schade and Betty (Barnes) Schade. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered by his children Jeannie Prater-Schade of Wichita, KS, James Prater-Schade of Mexico, MO and Lucy Mitchell of Columbia, MO; his mother Betty Schade of Columbia, MO; his sister Roxy Cohen and her husband J.B. of Columbia, MO; one grandchild; three nephews Jody Cohen of Edina, MO, Josh Cohen of St. Charles, MO and Jake Cohen of Columbia, MO; his fiancé Claire Carter of Columbia, MO; other relatives and many dear friends. Larry worked for JJ’s Café in Columbia, MO, and several other restaurants for many years. He attended Grace Bible Church in Columbia, MO and enjoyed fishing, music, movies, dancing and loved spending time with his friends and family. Funeral services will be 2:00 pm Monday, August 7, 2023, at the Oliver Funeral Home in Centralia, MO. Interment will be in Glendale Memorial Gardens in Centralia, MO. Visitation will be from 1:00 pm until service time on Monday, August 7, 2023, at the Oliver Funeral Home in Centralia, MO.
